WORLD CUP FOOTBALL, 2018, RUSSIA
The World Cup Football will be held in Russia from 14th June, 2018 to 15th July, 2018.
On the right see the map of Russia which straddles both Europe on the left onto Asia in its middle and right. The matches will be played in the cities that are in the European part of Russia. On its north, Russia has the Arctic Ocean or the North Pole. In its South, it shares borders with China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan. Russia is the only country which touches both the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea. Two of the venues of the World Cup are in fact very near Black Sea: Rostov on Don and Sochi. On its left, i.e., West, Russia touches the countries of Eastern Europe, starting from Ukraine at the bottom to Estonia on top. Further north, it has border with Finland too.

Location
Sochi is right on the shore of the Black Sea and Rostov on Don is on the Don river but the city is very very near the coast line of the Black Sea
The relative distances of the cities from one another is shown alongside. You may notice that the distances are pretty large: Russia is a large country, nay, a huge country, well, in fact, it is the largest country in the World. So, you can expect the distances to be large. The closest a venue is to another is 300 kms: Nizhny Novgorod to Saransk. Most of the venue cities are at a distance of 500 kms from each other. Some are far away: Kaliningrad in the extreme left. St. Petersburg to the top, Rostov on Don and Sochi to the extreme south.
So, if you are planning to visit Russia in June-July 2018, plan your trip well. If you take the train, the journey time is high. There is the Trans Siberian railway which can take you all the way to Beijing even and there are other Train services.
